Today 22.03.2019 is the 125th birth anniversary of Revolutionary freedom fighter Surya Sen,  the Hero of Chittagong Uprising. He was a school teacher before plunging into revolutionary freedom movement.  He was also active initially in Congress led non violent freedom movement.  He had trained many youngsters to revolutionary freedom movement. He was also associated with ANUSHEELAN SAMITI, an organisation which was very active in the revolutionary freedom movement in entire Bengal.  On 18.04.1930 he had led a team of young revolutionaries including Tarakanath Dastidar, Preetilatha Waddedar, Kalpana Dutt and captured the Chittagong after throwing out the Britishers and had established Nationalist government and hoisted National flag, Government was headed by Surya Sen. Entire communications network including post, telegraph, telephone Railway was unoperationalised. They held the Chittagong in captive for 3 days. A big army from British side attacked revolutionaries, there were man casualties  in both sides and British force coukd capture back the Chittagong.

Surya sen could not be captured and evaded arrest and lived incognito. Deceived by a trusted friend Netra Sen,  he was arrested in February 1933 and was hanged to death on 12.02.1934. Rashtra gaurava samrakshana parishath had given a letter to Prime Minister of India as early as on 6.12.2018 for the celebrations of 125th bith anniversary of Surya Sen which is yet to get any reply. Even the article on the life and achievements of Surya Sen given to Kannada newspaper did not get published due to their preference of elections related news reporting. Rashtra gaurava samrakshana parishath takes pride in the fact that it had published the patriotic calendar of 2019 dedicated to the sacred memory if Surya Sen’s 125th birth anniversary and made efforts with central government for the special commemoration functions. Rashtra gaurava samrakshana parishath will organise programmes to  commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Revolutionary freedom fighter Surya Sen in Schools and colleges besides a public function is also planned.
